Any opportunity that we have to share with the children the most direct connection between growing and eating is treasured, and fall in Maine means some good apple picking!!!!!

The apples of my eye...
Being the food conscience (obsessed) people that we are, making and sharing meals together is a priority that is among breathing and sleeping. Non negotiable. Knowing where our food comes from, and procuring it from it's freshest closest source is something that makes both the gathering process a learning experience, and the food healthier and tastier literally and morally. Hopefully this awareness is something that our kids will be invested in when they are old enough to make their own food choices.

I wish we could have stayed for the apple picking, I am jealous! My mouth began to water thinking about biting into those fresh apples. And what a beautiful fall day!
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that you guys and Amanda and JJ always seem to go apple picking on the same weekend every year?? Last year, I remember I got both of your apple picking pictures on the same day too!! Anyway, looks great, I wish I was there!
ReplyDelete"back in the day", we would make applesauce after returning from apple-picking. Does anyone do that anymore? Quite frankly, I much prefer apple pie!
ReplyDeleteHi Guys
ReplyDeleteI saw this after going to pick my apples(off the shelf at the orchard)and just cried.I miss you so... You need to comtinue to do the family things. It is too easy to get caught up with the rest of life and forget what is important.
I love you
